Verbaia

Verbaia — Not a subscription

The smart second pass on your text files.

Mistakes hide in every transcript — the garbles, the wrong words, names and numbers wrong. Verbaia is a second-pass post-transcription tool. Bring in your text, and the audio track when you have it: it pairs them, reads the words against the sound, and plays back the spot that you need to hear. It works with standalone text as well. Either way, it fixes the mistakes the first pass left behind.

Works with: text files from anywhere — your YouTube captions included — each one matched and paired with its audio file.

Pillar one

Catches the garbles

…and that’s the the plan for Q3—
…and that’s the plan for Q3—

Repeated words, wrong words, mangled names and numbers, words buried by wind — caught on the second pass — in the text itself, and against the sound; anything only a listener can settle gets flagged for you.

Pillar two

Flags what it’s unsure of

Let’s meet with marshy a on THHHRUSDAY at noon
Let’s meet with Marcia on Thursday at noon

When Verbaia isn’t sure about a word, it flags the spot and asks you — it never guesses quietly.

Not an editor?

You're exactly who this is for.

You may have the text already — and the audio from the recording it came from. Either way, the words aren’t ready to trust yet. Verbaia reads them over like a careful editor — in the text alone, and against the sound — no editing skills needed, and a long recording costs you minutes of review, not hours.

Why

The first version is a rough draft.

The first pass gets your words down fast — and every time a transcript comes back, it leaves problems behind that hide in plain sight.

Garbles

Words get mangled — run together, split apart, or swapped for words that merely sound alike. A garbled passage can change what a sentence says, and you'll never spot it by skimming.

Names and numbers

The words that matter most are the ones the first pass gets wrong most: people's names, dates, times, and figures. One wrong number in a text you trust is worse than no text at all.

Hours of reading

Checking a long text file by hand means reading every line against the recording. That's hours of work — so most text files never get checked at all.

What it does

One product. Everything in it.

There is one Verbaia — the whole product, with the full set of features, for everybody. No tiers, no add-ons. It runs on your own computer, and your words stay with you.

How it works

Three steps. Done in minutes.

Start it. Check it. Trust it.

1

Start with a text file.

Bring your text files in from wherever you got them — the captions from your own YouTube channel included — each one matched and paired with its audio file; the text on its own is fine too. Then the checking can begin.

2

Verbaia goes over it.

The second pass: it seeks out the problem spots on its own — in the text itself, and against the sound — and suggests a fix for each one. The choice is always yours: keep what's there, take the suggestion, or edit it your way. Anything it isn't sure about gets flagged for you.

3

Read your corrected copy.

Review the fixes in minutes — with audio, every flagged spot plays back so you can hear it and check it yourself; without it, the flags in the text tell the story. The copy you can trust is yours to keep, quote, and share.

Why it feels different

It runs on your computer.

Verbaia is a program you install on your computer.

Fast

Verbaia runs on your own computer, so you open a transcript and get straight to work — no uploading, no waiting around.

Private

Your transcript stays on your computer. Verbaia works on it there — even your license key is checked on your own machine, with no internet involved.

Yours

No subscription to keep paying. You buy Verbaia once, and your license key is your proof. End the subscription fatigue.

Simple

Start with a transcript — yours, with its audio or without; the text alone is enough — and get a checked copy. No new tools to learn, no editing skills needed — Verbaia brings the problems to you.

Who it's for

Built for people who live by the written word.

If a transcript has to be right, Verbaia is for you.

Verbaia is for you if…

  • You record meetings, interviews, lectures, or calls — and quote from the transcripts afterward.
  • Your recordings are hard to understand — fast talkers, strong accents, technical words — so the first transcript comes back roughest exactly where it has to be right. And when the speaker is difficult to understand, Verbaia is a great asset — it checks the very words the first pass couldn't get.
  • Names, dates, and numbers in your transcripts have to be right.
  • You rely on transcripts to follow what's said.
  • You'd rather spend minutes reviewing fixes than hours re-reading everything.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What does Verbaia do?

Verbaia is a second-pass editing and audio playback tool. You provide the transcription, then Verbaia goes over it a second time — reading the words against the sound, with sound, if you have it, but not necessary — catching the garbles the first pass left behind, and hands you back a copy you can trust.

Where do I get a transcript?

From any transcription service you already use — or one you already have saved. And if you don’t have one yet, take your YouTube audio and its captions, or the transcript you got with the recording — Verbaia works great with YouTube audio, and checks the captions the same way: in the text, and against the audio.

What computer do I need?

A Windows 10 or 11 computer, 64-bit. The download is about 720 MB and Verbaia takes about 1.4 GB once installed. No graphics card needed, and no internet needed to install or to run. The Mac version follows in a day or two.

How does the free trial work?

Download Verbaia and try the full product free for 7 days. There's no credit card — you just need a free account, so the trial is on record as yours. Download it and run it.

What happens when I buy?

You get your full license key — the only key there is — emailed to you and shown on screen. Type it once and Verbaia is yours.

Do I need the internet to use Verbaia?

No. This version runs on your own computer — even the check that your key is valid happens on your machine, with no internet involved. Your transcript stays with you.

The words have to be right.

For your deaf and hard of hearing audience, transcription is critical. It's how they know what's actually being said. That is what accessibility comes down to: words on the screen that the reader can trust.

And when they are the speaker, it runs the other way. Their words may not come out the way transcription services expect, so it gets them wrong — often in the same ways, again and again.*

Verbaia addresses both sides. It learns from your edits, so the mistakes that keep repeating get faster to fix — and you make the call on every one.

When your transcription is how you follow, close isn't accurate enough. It has to be clean — as close to word-perfect as it can get.

* In a 2025 audit of four major transcription services, 52.6% of the words spoken by deaf and hard-of-hearing speakers came back wrong — against 5.0% for hearing speakers. (Zhao et al., The Laryngoscope, 2025.)
